Common questions

Do I need an old photo to start?
No. "Start one today" begins a moment from a photograph you take right now. Come back to it whenever you like and take it again.

Where are my photos kept?
On your device, and in your own Photos library — every frame is saved to a "Memnto" album. If you're signed in to iCloud they also sync through your own private iCloud so they survive a new phone. They are never sent to us; we have no server.

My moments didn't appear on my other device.
Open Settings inside Memnto and look at the iCloud line — it will tell you what's happening. Syncing needs you to be signed in to iCloud on both devices, with iCloud Drive on for Memnto.

I chose “Selected Photos” — how do I change which ones?
Open Settings inside Memnto and tap “Choose photos”. Memnto never pops that up on its own; it only appears when you go looking for it.

What exactly syncs to iCloud?
Your moments — their titles, notes and dates — and a reduced-size copy of each photograph so a new phone shows the pictures rather than empty frames. The full-resolution original stays on the device that took it, and in your own Photos library. All of it lives in your private iCloud, which we cannot see.

How do I delete a moment, or one photo from it?
Open the moment and tap "⋯" at the top right to delete the whole thing. To remove a single frame, tap "⋯" on that frame in the timeline.

Why is there no automatic alignment?
You line the two photographs up yourself, by eye, using the ghost overlay. It's the part that makes you look properly at what's in front of you.

What are the example photos?
Public-domain and CC0 photographs from public archives, plus one AI-generated pair, so the app isn't empty when you first open it. They're labelled as examples and you can delete them.
